lymarie journalJune 29, 2006

Actually today is not the eighth day, it is day nine. I know I am suppose to write a journal last night I but couldn’t because last night we came back to the cottage very late around 1am or something like that because of Seattle. We had been there for all day which is very awesome moments I ever had!

Yesterday we woke up very early and be ready to go Seattle, because it is only around 2 hours and a half to get there. We wanted to get there early so that we could have enough time to look around and be able have time to visit of where we are suppose to go.

At the first thing, when we arrived to Seattle, I was so thrilled and couldn’t wait to see the Space Needle so badly. Angelina laughed so hard and saw the whole thing what I did, I kept squealing and accident squeeze Angelina’s wrist. (Laughing) But anyway, we got buying fruitoff the van and walked to the Pike’s Market; it is extreme big place, so much of the mini stores to see and so full of the people as well. It reminds of like New York City to me but, the Market is even more crowded! We walked around and stayed together to see so many things for awhile. At the fish market, there’s one guy who chose Angelina to stand in front of the fish counter. He took her and told her to stand and stay. Angelina got a red face and so SHY, she seems like she didn’t of know what to do but all she do is stand and looked at us. The guy who took Angelina took a big dead frozen fish and threw that fish over Angelina’s head!!! She screamed and laughed at the same time. The man threw a fish to the other man who works there. It was so cool to see that and it had made me laugh too.

We kept walking and saw so many kind of the fruits. They looked so delicious and perfect and we did try tasting the peach, oh my god, it is like… WOW! So perfect, sweet and juicy. We saw clothes, foods, any kind of crafts and some people singing in there too for the people’s support to give them some money that they needed.

We stayed there in the Pike’s Market for around 2 hours to look around and looked around to buy some foods to eat for our lunch time. Richie, Angelina and I stayed together. I was so scared that I  might get lost so I decided to grab Angelina’s arm and hold her gold barsso tight and never let her go without me. Angelina held the back shirt of Richie’s because there’s so MANY of the people, that part was totally freaking me out! We ate Chicken Doner Kehbab, that is the Turkish food. It was my first time to eat that but it is delicious! It has a lot of chicken, mixed lettuce with tomato and flat circle bread that covers these foods almost like a taco. Until around 2:30, we left that place and walked to the Underground Tour to buy the tickets for us and then walked to the Klondike Museum National Park.  It is about the Alaska Gold Rush that the people went there to search for the gold so that they could get rich and richer if they find any. I have seen many materials of what people are required to bring with them before they leave to Alaska. It is pretty a lot and not easy to carry them all on the way to Alaska from the west and some from the middle-west. We stayed there and looked around for only 45 minutes because we needed to go to the Underground Tour.

For the Underground Tour, it is pretty fascinating to me.  We listened to several stories about the underground that used to be a building long time ago but now it had the sidewalk above them. When I came into the underground, I felt pretty weird of seeing all the walls, the floor, old toilet and much more with all the dustiness and a lot of cobwebs too. Yuck! This includes the smelly odor of it; I can’t even explain of how it smells but it does smell kind of like garbage.

Yay! The exciting moment is coming! We waited for a bus station to come and ride on it on the way stop to somewhere near the space needleSpace Needle. When we stopped, I kept squealing and squeeze on Angelina’s wrist and say to her, “AHH! Space Needle! Space Needle is right there!” Angelina laughed and laughed so hard and said to me, “I know Lymarie, Space Needle is here and are you nervous about the height?” and I told her “nah, I am not afraid of it, I am just too exciting about it, it is my first time to see and go into the REAL Space Needle!” We kept walked and walked to get here, I was so excited and I took some pictures of Space Needle every time when I see it near me like half of mile until I got there. I looked up and whispered to myself, “Wow... that’s so tall!” It is really amazing to see that and I stayed with Angelina all the time and came into the Space Needle and I saw nice store that they sell clothes, hats, variety of foods and any kind of crafts too. But, they are all pretty expensive.

We went into the elevator and went to the top of the Space Needle, and oh gosh, the view is so expansive and you could see many cities out there. When we got to the top, automatically I walked to the window and looked down, it is very far down and I felt like I am falling. I kept staring at the outside and I saw Mt. Rainier! It looked like a painting picture to me because I couldn’t even see that mountain very clearly. All I did was stood still, looked at outside with the beautiful view and chilled with Angelina and Richie mostly of the time. I just couldn’t believe that I actually went there and I am so happy that we have that incredible opportunity for us!

eating dinnerSo for dinner time, we were very hungry and we don’t know yet of which restaurant do we want to eat. But somehow we walked and walked and Angelina saw the Old Spaghetti Factory. All of us were like oooh, why not eat in there? So we went there and inside that place were all fancy tables, chairs and lot of servs. It is pretty though and all of us really had enjoyed our special dinner last night and also I have to tell you this, I really had a good time conversations between with Richie, Angelina, Annie and Nancy as well during that time, about our awful experience in the past and related to the evil spirits too. We ate and chatted for around one hour and a half. But anyway, at 10:30pm, we left that place at around and got ready to go back to the van and go to the dorm. All of us were exhausted from that whole day and slept in the van all the way to the dorm.

jessica journal day 3Day 8: June 28, 2006

Wow, we had too much fun and a lot of walking today in Seattle.  We got up early at around 6:30am because it was around 3 hours to get to Seattle.  It was a long drive.  Anyway, we went to a lot of different places in Seattle.

As we got closer to Seattle and I became more excited.  It was a huge city and it looks like bigger than New York City.  We went to the Farmer’s Market known as “Pike’s Market”.

I’ll tell you some funny parts of the day in Pike’s Market.  We walked 163 stairs up to there.  It had a bunch of the seafood. I hated to smell it and it smelled awful!  But the awesome part fishwas when we stood and watched the men working on selling and filleting the salmon fish.  The one man pulled Angelina to stand at the place where the man can throw the salmon fish over her head.  She was so embarrassed and scared.  Then the man threw the fake salmon fish and it hit Mike’s head!  Annie laughed so hard.  I am telling you she laughs so hard easily!!  I asked the man, “Why does the man throw to another man fish and not walk to that man and give it him?”  He said he was lazy to walk all the way to give it to the man.  We also saw a HUGE monk fish.  The monk fish looked so ugly and it scared me!  It was awesome to see all the seafood I mean the real seafood.  I like to see the man to throw the fish to another man.  I was really appreciated the show and enjoyed it.

We left the seafood area and we walked all around to see the different stores but we were still in Pike’s Market.  We saw a lot of fruits and it smelled so good! I smelled all of them and it smelled so rich deeply, strong aroma, so perfect, and fresh!  I passed the store that has berries with whipped cream on the cheesecake.  I was like “I WANT IT NOW!” I want everything!  But we are passed it already.  Nancy and I were eating our perfect Bing and Rainier Cherries and they taste so tangy and all I have to say is you have to eat them all!!  I think all of them are better fruits than the East.  Nancy’s favorite fruit is peaches.  We walked passed the fruits store and Nancy ran to the man that has peaches.  He gave her peach.  She ate it and her mouth was watering.  She kept saying YUMMY!!  We all tried it and we love it!  It was so delicious.  I saw a lot of fruits.  Washington’s famous fruit is cherries.  The food is full at Pike’s Market. Jon, Mike, and I couldn’t read the words and find any of good food because it was too much food there!  We decided to get our grilled cheese and the food was okay.  But I prefer to eating fruit than the food. But the smell of food is too strong smell like smoked.  I saw a lot of people cook a lot of food.

I also saw a lotttttttt of the flowers!! It looks like the flowers are rows and rows at Pike’s Market too and we can find it easily but in Connecticut, it was hard to look for them.  The flowers are so colorful!  It looks like a floral rainbow!  I love to smell it.  It smells so fresh.  I can’t even describe how it smells because there are a lot of good scents.

We went to Klondike Gold Rush National Park in Seattle.  It was a lot of information.  It was all about the men walking over the mountains and taking a ship to Alaska to look for gold.  When the men grabbed the mud with their hands and put in the box to looking for the gold.  They had a bowl with them and shoved it into the streams and kept slowly shaking it to find the gold.  He found it and put them in the Miner’s Cradle.  I was surprised because one ounce is worth to 583 dollars (for today)!! But long time ago, one ounce was worth 10 dollars!  I like it here because it had a lot of good, interesting, cool, and long information about the Klondike.  I was surprised that one ounce is worth to 583 dollars!!! I couldn’t believe it!

We went to another place, “The Underground Seattle”.  Wow, I loved to learn that one but it was weird when I got there at first.  We went into the place and the woman, Lucy was presenting for us.  She talked all about the jokes and stuff but I couldn’t understand it.  But finally, I got to understand it all by myself.  Lucy told us Seattle got the toilets first, it was called Crapper.  She talked too much and it was hard for Ms. Nutt to interpret all of them.  Lucy said a long time ago, the Great Seattle Fire happened on June 6, 1889.  It was south on 1st Ave near Madison St.  It burned down 29 city blocks.

The man Adam was the leader.  He brought all of the people and us to down to the basement.  He said be careful because some of rats are in the basement.  Lymarie and I freaked out.  But he was joking.  We walked in the basement but actually we were in the first floor because when the fire happened so the men built to cover it and they were lazy to clean it.  It smelled awful.  We walked to looking around and it was dirty.  Then we walked to another place in the basement.  I would love to learn more about it but it scared me a little bit because I felt like I don’t belong in here.  There had a lot of the webs in here.  But it was very clumsy to walk space needlein here.  I mean I feel like I don’t know what to say but I hope you would get what I said.

We walked to the bus to get to the Space Needle.  Finally, we got there.  It looked like a UFO at the top of it.  We went in the elevator to the top.  We all looked at all of the view of the cities nearby and it was so amazing!!  We walked around and looked at the old history about this Space Needle.  A long time ago, the people voted for the 3 designs of the Space Needles.  All of the people voted this Space Needle that we are having right now.  It is 605 feet tall.  It was designed by Edward E. Carlson in the 1962.  In Canada, Ontario has a building named CN Tower and it is taller than all of the towers.  I really want to see it.  I will beg my dad to bring me there!  Heehee!

We hadn’t eaten our dinner yet and it was around 8:45pm so we walked to the restaurant named The Old Spaghetti Factory.  We had a fun chat together.  Annie couldn’t stop laughing about top of needleMike’s picture in Oregon City Trail.  She laughed so hard.  We had no idea why she laughed now.  She imagined it with the picture of Mike in it.  She laughed so hard. We arrived at van and it was almost 11pm.  All of us were sleeping in the van.  Annie offered to drive all the way to WSD from Seattle.  It was around 3 hours to get to WSD.  I had to wake up and I was so heavy in sleep it was hard to wake up.  Jon was shaking me and I woke up.  Then we all were sleeping!!!!  Today is Thursday and we are going to the Cannon Beach!!! That is my favorite beach!
