In Pecos National Park it was raining a little, then sunshine!! The traffic was smooth to drive; it was like one hour and a half to go to Pecos National Park. We entered to the visitor center. First Barbara French, Anne Nutt, Narelis, Kevin and I have to go the bathroom because some of us drank coffee and water. Then we watched the movie about what happened to the people of Pueblo Pecos changes their land and what life was like when Spanish came there. We walked on the trail to see what was their lands looked like and how their homes changed. So, when I was walking on the trail I was imagining how the Spanish came in the Pecos. Also, all the land is full of grass called prairie. When the Spanish came to the Pueblo Pecos then saw Native Americans did not have metal and horses. The Spanish set up the church near their homes because Pecos Pueblo did not believe in the Great Spirit. The monks started to teach the children from Pueblo people about the Great Spirit because they required all people to believe in God and they are Spanish/Catholic. The Pueblo people became angry with the Spanish and had a revolution and fought with the Spanish and then they burned the churches. There have mountains called Sangre de Cristo Mountain. I saw the Kivas where the Pueblo people were celebrating their tradition and we went to down the Kivas to see what look it looked like downstairs. Inside the Kivas have enough space-a circle with spiral to enter in and out. I can’t imagine how Pueblo Pecos lived there and how the Spanish came there a long time ago. We left from Pueblo Pecos to go to Las Vegas, New Mexico to visit what it looked like because it is the small old town. People moved from the east and that was one hour to arrive there. But I did not feel like one hour to arrive there because the traffic in the middle, west of the land was flat and a lot of prairie then the east of the land is flat too but a little bit far there were mountains. I was feeling bored because of the flat lands, strong breeze and no houses then I was napping because that makes me nap. The town of Las Vegas was very old and a small town but also had a fiesta there. Anne told us to go ahead walk around and meet in the center at 3:15pm. It is very different than our fiesta from the east because it was a small town and there have Mexican music, reggae, Spanish music is different music. Then I bought something a beautiful to my… I don’t want tell in my journal because it is special. Before we went to Las Vegas we went to Dairy Queen to eat ice cream because I never bought ice cream in this small restaurant. Then we back to our “Home” in NMSD to continue our work!! Hope everyone enjoys our hard work journals and investigations. Also, we are still soooooo EXHAUSTED!! |
