It’s all about GREEN! GREEN! GREEN!

Let me explain why I have said, “It’s all about GREEN! GREEN! GREEN!

We went to Santa Fe PREP School the “Green” school. The library was really about Green because there were no electric lights so they use “God’s light”, the sun. They had the solatubes, high-efficiency skylights, so they don’t have to worry about the light switch for the light bulbs.

There is no air conditioning in the Summer time because they use the air from the windows. They have no heaters because the Sun does its job with the heat that can reflex to the glass of the window to the whole room. I really wish that the schools in Connecticut will go GREEN but unfortunately, the summer time is like we need air condition in the east is humid. So that is hard to balance with the negative and the positive with energy source of GOING GREEN. I wish there were some way there can be a balance! GOD will make a way! So I don’t have to worry because I’m in the great hands of GOD!

Then we went to the downstairs to the storage to see the lockers, the computer that were energy preserve and the light bulbs that were energy source light bulb. Then we went outside to see the gardens that the students from the high school.

Then we went to see the pottery woman who made the pottery and the paintings for the student to learn and the vegetables to teach the students to grow vegetables.

Then we went to see the history classrooms of the school, there was a Philosophy class, Global  Studies, American History, World History and the Santa Fe, New Mexico History.

WE all walk to the science classrooms of the school, there was biology, chemistry, and something else I forgot. It was a lot of classes they took and they also have sports: they have basketball, crocket, volleyball, soccer and a list of other sports. We saw the trophies, the lunchroom, the GYM and the mascot is a Griffin some kind of a mystery monster. I wish the school have something like this school but I can accept our school but the school of our state need improve so we can be GREEN too. But I HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT, DEAL WITH IT!

# 1 THE LORRETTO Chapel in Santa Fe, it was soooo beautiful religious-catholic chapel. There was statue of Jesus the Messiah on the first part when you enter the chapel you see the statue of Jesus right there, Mary the mother of Jesus, was at the left side of the alter, Joseph with baby Jesus was on the right side of the alter.  There ANGELS on both side of the alter and the cross was on the table with the box for some kind of communion the Catholics do on Thursdays before Easter, Good Friday, and Passover. The Loretto staircase was like spiral staircase. inside the chapel

The spiral staircase was built in the 1878.  There was no way to enter the choir loft twenty-two feet above. Carpenters were called in the address the problem, but they all concluded access to the loft would interfere with the interior space of the small Chapel.

Loretto Chapel statueLegend says that to find a solution to the seating problem, the Sisters of the Chapel made novena to St. Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters. ON the ninth and final day of prayer, a man appeared at the Chapel with donkey and toolbox looking for work. Months later, the elegant circular staircase was completed, and the carpenter disappeared without pay or thanks.

Loretto statue of MaryAfter searching for the man (an ad even ran in the local newspaper) and finding no trace of him, some concluded that he was ST. Joseph himself, having come in answer to the sisters’ prayers.

The stairway’s carpenter, whoever he was, built a magnificent structure. The design was innovative for the time and some of the design consideration still puzzles experts today.

The staircase has two 360 degree turns and no visible means of support. Also, it is said that stair case was built without nails-wooden pegs. Reservation also surrounds the number of stair risers relative to the height of the choir loft and about the types of wood and other materials used in the staircase’s construction.Loretto chapel staircase

# 2 The IAIA (Institute of American Indian Arts), we went to see different arts from different Indians. There was one half Indian and half white woman so she was a mixed descent.

She has distinguished alternative in art that she works in. The woman’s name is Daphne Odjig.

She has a talent to impress people with her art now than before the people rejected her artwork before.

#3 The Palace of the Governors- the palace of the governors is an conventional edifice on plaza of Santa Fe, New Mexico which served as the seat of government in New Mexico for centuries. The Palace of Governors is the oldest continuously occupied public building in the United States.

Like I said there was a lot to see but these 3 are my favorites.

Then we went Home to type our journals and investigation. Then we ate spaghetti for dinner and a little typing for a while on the journal because some of us had to catch up.

It was time for bed, I hope we have a another day without being all caught up.
