Knowledge/ Appreciate
We woke up with the sunrise and typed our journals and investigation. We ate breakfast and made our own lunch. We went to Santa Fe, New Mexico. We are extraordinarily, extraordinarily exhausted about typing journals and investigation during sunrise.
We went to Santa Fe Prep School (SFP) and to see “green” architecture design. The Santa Fe prep school looks similar to pueblo, brown color and lot of windows. We introduce our name and they introduce their names. We met the director of the school name is Jim. Stephanie led us to tour around the Santa Fe Prep School and explained basics of how they store the energy and save the environment. We saw soccer field, gym, garden, high school classroom, middle school classroom, café, the first owner’s house, meeting room, Student lounge, storage room, office, and basement. We went to Santa Fe Prep library. We introduced ourselves to Jan Adesso, the librarian. She talked more detail about energy and environment. She gave us paper about U.S green building council LEED.
She explained how to store energy to not waste energy and save the environment. They use solar tube to bright in library by the sun. The water fountain was time limited. Their wood made by light maple is local. The low-flow in toilets, waterless urinals, and hand washing to save 108 thousands gallons. The library got water from top and collect water from the rain. The low plants, carpet, foyer, woods, and twine were used in the building construction. The foyer rug is each square in floor to separate and if it got dirty remove square and replace it. We went to first owner’s house now is art and pottery building. The art teacher introduced her name and we introduced our names. We saw much different kind of potteries and boxes. She explained about the house and how the school used it.
I think Santa Fe Prep School was awesome and it had to save their environment and energy. I like how the solar tubes got light by sun and not need to use any electricity. I wish ASD had building like that! I liked how the thick walls kept the temperature cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
We went to Institute of American Indian Arts Museum. We saw some arts and gift shop. We met a woman from the IAIA and she explained about “Bad Land” in museum of arts some culture of Native American. We enter to bad land and there were different arts. We saw many Daphne Odjig’s art in the bad land. The arts look bad symbol and describe what artier think about related with the art. We saw the movie talk about Daphne Odjig’s art and life. My favorite art is “Mother Earth Struggles for Survival”. This art is about love and different style of paints. The color is blue, red, aqua, yellow, white and brown. We saw Native American art, woman art, rock, snake and camp.
We went to New Mexico Museums + Monument to observed their history and art. We saw old fashioned car, clothes, weapons, room, mail, paper, and office. I saw many different histories about 1600s to 1900s. It was too much information in there. I learned some history from that museum. It taught me lot information than the America History book 1 and 2. The museum looks like Connecticut’s museum and some pueblo style in other building in the museum.
I am very interested about Santa Fe Prep School and Santa Fe Prep library as to how they save the environment and the energy. I like observing in the art of Institute of American Indian Arts Museum. The Daphne Odig’s arts were cool but odd picture because it has different kinds of style. I am very fascinated about the history and learned different history in 1600s to 1900s. I want more details about 1600s but there was too much information in the Museums + Monument and NO TIME to complete observing the history.
