Day Six of News You Can Use
Santa Fe Prep, Santa Fe
Staff Journal
Ok maybe there was not much “News You Can Use “in yesterday journal and there are two reasons for that, one being, my eyeballs are so dry that my tear ducts are doing overtime and the page is blurry. Remembering Lesson Number Seven, I persevered. The universe had another plan, which was, to challenge me and test me on what I personally learned in the lessons taught out on Santo Domingo Pueblo. The Great Spirit sent me “Computer #6”. Computer #6 was a spiritual gift from God. Computer #6 was testing my patience and my inner peace. Computer #6 passed over to the other side because I shut it down and sending it to the Great Spirit in the sky.
All my spiritual patience that I accumulated over the past two days went out the window because of one 12” by 13” square box. My inner peace shot. HUMM …..Breathe.
OK I feel much better now. Let’s jump into Day Number Six. Not much driving today. We stayed locally. First on the agenda was Santa Fe Prep School, a private school nestled in the upper hills of Santa Fe. Our tour included a recently built library with a “Green” theme. This building was awarded the LEED Award for its “greenness”. Conservation of energy and water is a subject close to my heart. We all can do a better job at it. A committee was established here to specifically to over look conservation. Student, staff and administration come together and look at way the can conserve throughout the campus. This idea is something we can do at ASD and the gang here is ready to take on ASD’s energy conservation needs. This school is very conscious about what kind of a footprint it will leave on this earth. Something we all should be conscious of.
Santa Fe was next on the day’s events. We visited churches, a Native American contemporary art museum, and the New Mexico History Museum. We certainly can cram a lot into one day! The history of Santa Fe is very rich. The people here have been very accommodating and friendly. We walked until the muscles in our leg were bulging, building up an appetite with every step, knowing at the end of the day we were going out to eat at Tomasita’s. This is a restaurant that our technology person Francesco recommended. He is a New Mexico boy at heart, so he would know.
After our feet could not carry us any further we looked for Tomasita’s to rest our feet and fill our bellies. …And fill our bellies is what we did. We ate and ate and ate. We were all on an eating adventure trying out new foods and seeing which one of us could eat the green chili. Mexican food from here is something to write home about. Once you eat Mexican here you will never eat Mexican back home. It was off the living hook!!!!!
Oh…..I can’t move. I ate too much. We ate too much. Now we are all worrying about what the night will bring. All that chili; all that hot salsa; all that guacamole.
