Other jewelry was bracelet different of color, small rock and steel with glue, but long time ago use bone, rock and sap from tree it long time to complete it. He explains how to make jewelry and his 2 son made it too. The stone with curved, melt sliver, pour sliver in stone with curved, tie down rock, wait till it down and open it. They made corn bracelet with blue rock and symbol of his family. The big shell curved wit stone inside for their tradition and connect with sliver necklace. Other bracelet curved with corn, black stone and small blue stone. Black stone symbol of dark and small blue stone symbol of moons. Anthony travel to different states to show his jewelry and he won 1st place with blue ribbon. He sells it for earn money. Some people made jewelry too but different style than the Lovatos. Their culture is given and past down to children to made jewelries.
We went to Anthony’s cousin, Salut, mother’s house. We met Anthony’s families and Anthony’s grandfather chat about World War II. He learned Japanese songs and he has Japanese name. We ate lunch in there and had so much different foods and desserts. We taste some different food from Native American. Salut told the story about Vietnam War and World War II. He described a lot of details and what occurred in his time of war.
We went to plaza near the church of Santo Domingo Pueblo to see men riding horses to capture the chicken. The riders grab a chicken from hanging between 2 poles with rope at the. The riders get the chicken, grab the chicken, and race to give his family and keep chicken for cooking. The dogs chase horses because dogs were too joyful. The kids ran races by age group. A man stand beat a drum 4 times to get set and ready and RUN! The winners grab some toys, animals and blanket. We sat in the family tent and it was very hot, dusty and we drank lot water. It was so fun to observe and learn their culture. I respect their culture and tradition. I like to see men riding horses with chicken because it was amazing and tremendous.
We continue typing morning and night daily journal and investigation. See you tomorrow!
