Megan   Journal: Day Ten   other journals

Today was our last day.

m-day10I couldn’t believe it. Our stay here didn’t feel like ten days at all, maybe less. I’m glad I went on this trip. I learned a lot and experienced a lot of different things from culture to politics to history to environment. Also it improved my writing and reading skills as well as my note-taking skills.

Growing up, I’ve always wanted to go to California, now I’m here and it was an amazing experience being here and I felt the way I thought I will feel. California is definitely my inspiration. It has opened my eyes to so many things. When you go to California, the people there accept you as you are and do not judge you for who you are by the way you dress or your religion. There, you see so many people from different nations of the world everywhere across the city, at the BART station, in shops, at the museum, Golden Gate Bridge or even living there.

Everything began in California, the protest to make people’s lives fair, free rights, the Vietnam War and all the fight to change the world. Not only had these protests that took place, the Gold Rush influenced California with its expanding population. Also its artistic and historical side of the Hippies inspired me. They were a people of their own philosophies, beliefs and rights.

After exploring California, it makes me want to go to college here and even live here for a couple of years.
This trip has been excellent and I will always remember this trip for as long as I live and will tell stories to my children about the experience I had as a 16 year old teenager and my perspective of the world itself.
