group shotToday was really breathtaking journey to Alcatraz.

We took the BART into San Francisco Bay and walked into town to catch the Cable Cars to Pier 33. We decided not to and save the ride for later, we walked all the way to Pier 33. We caught the boat and off we went to visit Alcatraz, the famous prison that saw a lot of history.

alcatrazEntering that former world famous prison where notorious killers and robbers were locked up was the most amazing, yet terrifying feeling. But still this place was full of history; behind those bars were stories to tell – not the prettiest ones – but yet the most interesting ones to listen to. How those people became killers, how they ended up in Alcatraz and what went into their minds.

DAY EIGHTI walked around the prison amazed. Now thinking about it I felt like telling people I grew up on Alcatraz. Comparing Bermuda to Alcatraz wasn’t the same. But inside that entire cruel hell place, there was something in common. Bermuda and Alcatraz knew isolation; of course they were two different kind of isolation. It was the only thing in common.
Prison
I learned a lot from today. Everything I learned went into my investigation. I was so thrilled that the girls got to take over the investigation today.

Prison PicsWe even went into one of the cells and watched as Annie gave the tour listening to the headphones. It explained each part of Alcatraz, from the beginning to the end. I kept on wanting to know more and more. It was so interesting.

After being amazed with Alcatraz, we walked around Fisherman’s Wharf and decided to eat at this seafood place called “Fog Harbor”.Fishermans Wharf We ordered different kind of seafood and shared it, telling stories at the table. After eating, we dragged our fat bellies to our next stop at Ghirardelli’s chocolate shop. Each of us ordered an ice cream and I had the caramel ice cream. Honestly, GhirardelliI was in heaven and it was the best “drug” on the earth. It was so delicious and we sat near the fountain enjoying our ice cream and saving up our energy for our next mission which was seeing Lombard Street.

Lombard Street is the famous sharp-curve area in California. It was so gorgeous and from the top you can see the entire city. We walked down the steps, thank God I didn’t trip. The flowers were fresh and it was beautiful. We took a group picture at the bottom taking in the whole of the background into the image.

SunsetAfter walking up and down that entire steep hill to Lombard, we walked back down to catch the cable cars. Angelina and I hung on to the outside of the cable car holding on to the pole. At first I was terrified but then it wasn’t bad, I got used to the feeling of the ground moving below me. flowersWe even played the game “Slug Bug”, when we see a VW bug car; we punch the other person before they see it. We also waved to people that we passed and passed the Lombard and even saw the city at night time with the lights and the Golden Gate Bridge was breathtaking. The rest of the trip was just holding on and watching other people walking up and down the city. It was interesting seeing different people from different places.

Arm in ArmWe stopped and hopped off at the BART station. We knew we were going to miss the train that took us directly home, so we took another one, getting off at one station and hopped on the train. The last train ride into and out of San Francisco, we stood, talking and laughing among ourselves. We had to walk back to the school and we were so exhausted and went to bed leaving all the work for tomorrow.
