What can
I say about day two?? Well, when we were all ready, we walked to the BART station. BART is Bay Area Rapid Transit, a metro that takes us to the west side of San Francisco. Once we got to San Francisco, we had to see which way we needed to go to get to Golden Gate Park. After that we looked for a restroom because some of us needed to use the restroom. We found a restroom but we had to pay, I was like what? It was only 25 cents but I never had to pay to use the restroom, it was all new to me.

After everyone used the restroom we went to look for a bus to take us to the park. It took a while to figure out which bus would take us there, but we finally got aboard and headed out. We arrived at the park; we took our noon photo and went to wash our memorialhands before we ate our lunch. While we were eating our lunch, it started to get really windy and cold. After lunch we started to walk toward the Japanese Tea Garden.

On the way we saw the National AIDS Memorial park and we took a look. It was beautiful; there were dedications that were made to all the people that had AIDS in SF and nearby. It was so touching because there was this circle where it had all the names of the people who had AIDS and it was called the circle of friends. Also, while we were leaving this area, there was this old couple. The man was in a wheelchair and the lady picked him up out of the wheelchair and put his arms around her and they started dancing. Nutt, Nancy, and Charise started to cry, they said that was true love. Wow, I thought.

When we were finished with the AIDS Park, we continued to the Japanese Garden. When we got there, we can see one of the palaces that they had there. When we got inside, we started to look around at the different tea timeplants and statues that they had there. They had bamboo, I heard that they grow really fast compared to more plants. We also saw a Buddha statue. The sign said that Buddha was originally a prince. Then he started to meditate under trees and he saw the thing that humans were suffering with and that is how he got his name “Buddha” which means enlightened one. After that we went to taste the tea that they served in the garden. Many of us had Jasmine tea which was pretty good.

After that, we walked down Haight Street and saw the street that most of the hippies were at in SF in the 1960’s. There was so much color and different style of clothing. Everything was fascinating. We got back on the bus and took the BART back to Fremont. Then we walked back to CSD and started on our journals. That’s it for now!
