redwoodsJohn Muir did study nature. He was a writer and conservationist. When he was a young boy, he enjoyed to study plants and animals in his family’s house.

John Muir went to the college to study botany and geology. Later after his inventions about the machine parts, he realized that his studies of nature are more important to him. In 1867, he went to walk from Wisconsin to Gulf of Mexico for 1,000 miles. He collected the information of plants. He went to California and live there which he discovered the Yosemite Valley.

day nine in the treesHis writing talked about helping people to go to see the National Park. President Roosevelt helped Muir to encourage spreading the national forest reservation in all over the states. He founded the Sierra Club in 1892 to exploring and protecting the Sierra Nevada Mountains which still have today. He was great leader in control for the conservation of the natural resources in U.S.

We visited the Red Wood forest, I saw the red wood was very oldest, and tallest, the red wood was 1500 years old and 368 feet tall.
