Golden Gate Park Investigation

Japanese Tea Garden:

The Garden is filled with so many different kinds of plants. There were the bamboo and the bonsai trees. There were pagodafish in the pond that they had in the middle of the garden; the fish are called koi, some were orange and some were orange and white. There were also birds there. The whole thing was set up differently than the Chinese Garden that we saw last year in Portland, Oregon. In the Chinese Garden there were a lot of flowers and so many colors, but here in the Japanese Garden it was mostly trees. Both were very peaceful.

There was a Buddha statue and a sign that is telling how Buddha got his name and such. Buddha’s original name was Prince Siddhartha of Slyas know known as Nepal. He would always be meditating under trees and he was finding out what the humans were having problems with. After that he started to make sure that the people were fine. Later, his name became Buddha which means Enlightened One. The religion Buddhism is started after him.

There was a place where we can taste the tea that they made there. Most of us had Jasmine tea but some had Green tea. They gave us the tea along with some snakes like small cookies, cracker like things, and fortune cookies. Some of the crackers tasted spicy and the cookies tasted like a sugar cookie.
It was interesting to see the different kind of plants and to see a little bit of the culture that they show there.
